As we approach October 1, we are pleased to provide an update on the progress of the golf course renovation and what members can expect when the course reopens more fully.
OCTOBER 1 — WHAT TO EXPECT
Front Nine Greens
All nine renovated greens are expected to be fully grown in and open for play. The new TifEagle Bermuda continues to mature, and ongoing mowing, rolling and topdressing will further improve playing conditions.
Back Nine Greens
The back nine greens are expected to be open for play. Holes 10, 11, 12 and 18 are expected to be approximately 100% established, while holes 13–17 are expected to be approximately 90%–100% established and will continue to fill in after October 1.
Hole 5
Opening configuration will depend on weather and ground conditions. If sufficiently dry, Hole 5 will reopen as a par 4 without restrictions. If conditions remain too wet, it will temporarily operate as a par 3 with restrictions until the fairway can be properly prepared.
Hole 6
Expected to be fully open without restrictions on October 1. Turf coverage is expected to be approximately 75%–90%, with continued establishment after reopening.
Tee Boxes & Fairway Improvements
Although tee boxes were not part of the original Phase 1 renovation, DTE has taken additional steps to improve them. An additional truckload of sod has been ordered and is expected to be installed before October 1. Any remaining sod will be used to improve the most visible fairway areas.
Concrete & Cart Paths
Remaining concrete work is being completed as weather and ground conditions permit. The expectation is for the remaining work to be completed and the cart paths to be fully open without restrictions by October 1.
NEW COURSE AMENITIES
Members will also see several new improvements around the course:
- New 20-foot La Cita flagpole with La Cita flag, scheduled for installation September 28
- New flags for every hole, scheduled to be installed by October 1
- Eight new ball washers, initially positioned at every second hole, with additional locations to follow
FINAL PREPARATION
During the final weeks leading up to October 1, the maintenance team’s priority will be presenting the entire property in the best possible condition. This includes mowing and trimming rough areas, maintaining pond areas, edging cart paths, trimming trees, maintaining sand containers on Par 3 tee boxes, improving visible fairway areas with remaining sod, and completing general cleanup and detail work throughout the property.
